Danielle de Niese staged her third performance in Colombo, at an intimate gathering on Friday, January 6 at Jetwing Colombo 7.
The Australian-born American lyric soprano of Sri Lankan heritage is known for her versatility. Outside of opera and musical theatre, she has also worked with the likes of LL Cool-J, and been dubbed “Opera’s coolest soprano” by the New York Times. To hear (and see) the star deliver a gamut of vocal styles from Dvorak to Gershwin to Celine Dion was an enthralling experience. She was accompanied on the piano by Dilan Angunawela
She presented her final number “The Prayer” by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli as a prayer for the nation.
