FEATURE- Maximising Our Days with Time Management

Features

By Timothy A. Edward

The world we live in today is vastly different from the one our grandparents grew up in just a few decades ago. Thanks to the rapid advancements in technology, we are now able to accomplish tasks in a fraction of the time which would have taken our ancestors years to achieve. This is truly one of the wonders of the modern era in which we are living.

In the past, completing even the simplest of tasks required a great deal of time and effort. For instance, communicating with someone who lived far away involved sending letters that could take weeks or even months to reach the recipient. Today, with the help of smartphones and the internet, we can connect with anyone instantly, anywhere in the world, with just a few gentle taps on our screens. This has not only made communication faster and more convenient, but it has also brought people closer together, breaking down geographical and even continental barriers.

In fact, the list of ways in which technology has contributed to making our lives easier and more efficient is endless. From household appliances to medical discoveries, from e-commerce to online education, technology has changed the way we live, work, and interact with each other and the world around us. It has opened up new possibilities and opportunities, making the impossible possible, in a sense, making the times and epoch in which we are living now the best ever.

Time the Great Equaliser

Undoubtedly, time is one of the most valuable assets we have. Yet, time is the great equaliser - we all have the same 24 hours in a day. It is how we use those hours that set us apart. If we are to achieve our visions and goals, then our time has to be maximised, and we need to respect the nature of time.

Step #1: Divide your waking hours into three segments

However, in our fast-paced world, time seems to fly by and there never seems to be enough of it. We often find ourselves struggling to balance our personal and professional lives, trying to fit everything into a 24-hour day. But what if you are told that you could actually create more time and be more productive by dividing your waking hours into three segments?

By doing this, we can essentially create three days within a day, giving us a total of 21 mini-days in a week. This way, we can take consistent and purposeful action towards our goals and make the most out of our time.

By dividing our waking hours into three segments, we can create a structure and routine for our days. This will not only help us to be more productive but also make the most of our time. We can also use this time to work towards our long-term goals, as we now have more time to dedicate towards them on a daily basis. Just imagine, in one year, we could live 1095 mini days instead of just 365 days. This is a significant amount of time that can be used to achieve our goals and make our dreams a reality.

Step # 2: Daily Personal Development

Then, make personal development a priority by dedicating time to it every day. Approach this time with a sense of urgency and attempt to learn something new each day. Whether we prefer to do this in the morning or evening, that is up to us, but the key is to consistently work towards self-improvement and avoid becoming lethargic. Cultivate a positive and growth-focused mindset to continuously improve.

Step # 3: Measure Your Performance Through Time

Finally, we also need to assess our performance frequently. We do not have to wait for quarterly and yearly evaluations or develop to perform sessions with our supervisors and colleagues. Actually, learning to measure our performance on a monthly or weekly basis, will do us a great deal of good. If we measure our own performance, then others do not have to do it that often with us.

Do you reflect on your accomplishments each Friday evening? Do you also plan for the upcoming week during this time? This is a weekly habit of top performers. On the other hand, average individuals only evaluate themselves once or twice a year. To become a top performer, make measuring your progress a monthly or weekly routine. Create an urgent internal mechanism for this purpose.

In life and business, ultimate success can be defined as achieving fulfillment and happiness in all areas of life, including wealth, health, relationships, professional and personal growth. Dividing our waking hours into three segments can be a game-changer in terms of productivity and time management. By creating 21 mini-days in a week, we can make the most out of our time and consistently work towards our goals. It is also important to establish daily - weekly - monthly habits and routines that encourage personal development and measurement of our performance through time, aligning with our goals and prioritizing our tasks accordingly. You may be surprised to find how these simple steps can contribute to your ultimate success. Why not give it a try?
