Millennium Art Contemporary (MiAC) will present “Feminist Futures, Art, Activism, and South Asian Womanhood” at the Lotus Gallery, National Museum, Colombo, from September 26 to October 8, 2025.
Curated by Dr. Arshiya M. Lokhandwala, the exhibition features ten women artists from Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Their works explore themes of patriarchy, colonial legacies, gender inequality, and women’s empowerment through sculpture, photography, installation, video, and performance.
Highlights include Sri Lankan artist Priyanthi Anusha’s live performance on opening day at 3:00 p.m., Pushpamala N’s reinterpretation of Sita’s abduction from the Ramayana, and Tayeba Begum Lipi’s striking multimedia works using razor blades to question marriage rituals.
The gallery will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (except public holidays).
This initiative aims to amplify the voices of South Asian women artists and offer fresh perspectives on feminism through art.
