Day Two of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week saw models take to the ramp at the DIMO 800 Centre on Saturday, (October 28). The fast paced show featured thirteen designers and brands, designing under the theme of ‘Travel Style’.
Kicking off the show was Prabath Samarasooriya’s gray scaled women’s collection ‘Mori Girl’. Followed by a series of black and white hued collections including Kur Collection’s ‘Lower East Side’, and Ishara Jayathilake’s ‘Monastic Zen’.
Notable collections were ‘Outlander’ by Vogue Tex and Kanchana Fernando’s ‘So Cal’ made in collaboration with LICC Jeans. The former featured dropped waists and A line silhouttes, with detailed beading work, which worked well will the soft colour palate. The later was a denim batik collection, consisting of ripped jeans, overalls, skirts, jackets and shorts, with tassels added as embellishments.
Another collection that included batik was Buddhi Batik’s ‘Tropical Sports’. The collection featured sportswear including sports bras and bags, with floral and geometric print. Collaborating with Rainco, Lonali Rodrigo brought to the ramp interesting collection featuring raincoat clad, umbrella wielding models in tropical printed trekking attire. The collection was appropriately named 'Rainforest Explorer'.
The night also saw apparel and textile manufacturers, including industry giants Hirdaramani ,MAS and Brandix(Teejay) take to the ramp. Other collections that walked the runway were Aqua Island' swimsuit collection "Aruba" and True Digital Printing's 60s inspired 'Eclectic Bloom' collection.

The Colombo High Court today (28) sentenced former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment over charges of the involvement of an abduction.
In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
