Swim Week Colombo, with its title partner Olu Tropical Water presents the second edition of Fashion Films at Swim Week Colombo.
According to a statement by organisers a collaboration of two creative streams of fashion and films where film makers work with fashion designers to represent their inspiration and ideas on films shot on smartphones.This segment will take place on June 30 and July 1 alongside the designer showcase at Hilton Colombo.
These films will be then entered into a competition where the best piece will be adjudged. The new initiative is here to stay as fashion films are becoming an important medium in the global fashion industry and this trend will positively impact the Sri Lankan fashion designers industry.
“Film and Fashion go back a long way, both creative expressions rely on each other, and with fashion week we wanted to develop this relationship in an interesting way, each film is shot on smart phones and its each designers creative expression. This is one of our main areas of development and it exposes both industries.” says Ajai V Singh.
Directors that are returning from the last season are You’re My Favorite and Jason of Ifilm Sri Lanka, along with new directors being Reza Akram, Kavindu Sivaraj and Ishan Iqbal. The designer and director pairings are: You're My Favourite collaborates with Rumpunch, La Pard and Aqua Island; Jason with Conscience, Koka and Rachel Raj; Reza Akram with Buddhi; Kavindhu with Meraki and Arugambay and Ishan Iqbal with Stefal.
