16-hour water cut in Colombo and several areas today

A water-cut will be in effect from 6 pm today (Jul 23) until 10 am tomorrow, in several areas including Colombo, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said.

According to the NWSDB, the disruption in water supply is due to an unexpected breakdown in the main transmission line of the Ambathale Intake Pump House which needs to be restored.

The areas which would face total interruption are as follows:

• Colombo 3
• Colombo 4
• Colombo 5
• Colombo 6
• Hokandara

Meanwhile, several areas will experience low-pressure water supply. Those areas are as follows:

• Colombo Municipal Council areas
• Dehiwela Municipal Council areas
• Mount Lavinia Municipal Council areas
• Kotte Municipal Council areas
• Kaduwela  Municipal Council areas
• Maharagama
• Boralasgamuwa
• Kolonnawa Urban Council areas
• Kotikawaththa
• Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha areas
• Rathmalana and Soysapura Housing Schemes
