The annual festival of Nallur Kandaswamy Devastanam, Jaffna commenced today with the flag hoisting ceremony with thousands of Hindu devotees taking part in the religious events in the temple.
The 25 days long festival will mark the chariot festival on August 25.
Jaffna Municipal Council has taken steps to ensure devotees can access the temple without any hindrances and is in keeping with the health guidelines issued by local Provincial Health authorities.
Hindu devotees from various parts of the island and diaspora communities are expected to take part in the festival in the coming days. (N. Lohathayalan)
