The Second Reading of the budget was passed in the Parliament a while ago with a majority of 93 votes. 153 votes were cast in favour of it and 60 votes were cast against it.
The Third Reading of the Budget is scheduled to commence from tomorrow and the final voting will take place on December 10.
Leader of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Rauf Hakeem and Leader of All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Rishad Bathiudeen voted against the budget while Parliamentarians representing both political parties voted in favour of the budget. SLMC MP representing Trincomalee district MS Thowfeek abstained from voting.
Except for the leader of ACMC, all other three MPs of voted in support of the budget along with SLMC MPs.
