Catholics to take part in ’Black Sunday’ protest against Easter Sunday Commission report

News

The Catholic Church  has called for a ‘Black Sunday’ next week to mark their protests over the findings in the Easter Sunday attack Commission report that was made public last week.

Cardinal Malcom Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo has called Catholics to turn up in church for next Sunday’s mass in black and take part in demonstrations outside the churches after the mass.

The notification announcing the protests was readout at Sunday masses.

The Church has expressed clear dissatisfaction about the report claiming that the Commission has failed to find out the persons who actually carried out the attack and their motives.

The church has distributed a specially prepared prayer to be recited during the week at homes.

It has not been only the Catholic church which has expressed opposition about the report,  but even major political parties have said that the report was inadequate.

Several others including ruling party ministers and state ministers also have expressed displeasure about the report.

Among them are Ministers Mahinda Amarawera and Dayasiri Jayasekara.
