The chief custodian of the Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya, Somipala T.Ratnayake was arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) today (27) morning.
Somipala.T.Ratnayake, the chief custodian was arrested when he surrendered to the CCD over the disappearance of a golden disc made of 38 gold sovereigns placed at the Kataragama Devalaya.
Last week, Saman Priyantha ‘Chuti Kapurala’ who was in-charge of the stored goods within the Devalaya was arrested and released on bail by Tissamaharama Magistrate.
The CCD has recorded the three-hour long statement from the chief custodian, police sources said.
