A male leopard from Bogawantalawa was rescued from a snare by a group of officials from the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) today. The rescued leopard was transferred to the Randeniya veterinary office for further treatment.
According to DWC officials, the six-feet-long rescued leopard is severely injured from the snare setup by hunters. The officials estimated the leopard to be 9-10 years old.
They also said this was the second similar incident recorded within this year involving leopards trapped in snares. (Pix by G.Kishanthan)
