Update - Sri Lanka’s first female filmmaker Dr. Sumithra Peiris funeral will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023. The remains will be placed at her sister's residence in Gower Street, Colombo 05.
She who worked over 10 films as Screenwriter, Director, Producer and Editor, Sumitra Peiris arose as one of the country’s top-notch national icons.
Her outstanding contribution towards the advancement of Sri Lankan cinema working alongside her husband, late Dr. Lester James Peiris who is world-renowned as the Father of Sri Lankan Cinema, is to be celebrated.
