Driver involved in Radella accident Arrested

( Update )- The 62 year old driver of the bus involved in Radella accident which killed seven persons arested, police said 

The Nanu Oya Police suspects that the negligence of the bus driver leads to the accident which took place at Radella.

The accident occurred on Friday night around 7.30pm when a bus carrying 42 grade 11 students collided with a van and a three wheeler at Randella, Nanuoya shortcut road. Six passengers of the van and three wheel driver were killed as a result of the collision.

Police said they would check the breaks of the bus and see for if there were mechanical issues and see if that as well as the condition terrain also contributed to the accident from occurring.

They added that they are carrying further investigation on the incident to find out the cause of the accident.

The Nuwara Eliya District secretary too has decided to temporarily halt heavy vehicle entry to Radella road. The move was taken after the accident.  

The President of the Private bus Drivers Association, Gamunu Wijeratne said that the bus which faced the accident was a bus used for only hired tours.
