The historic Somavathiya Raja Maha Viharaya in Polonnaruwa has been flooded due to torrential rains experienced in the area over the past few days.
Though the Somavathiya premises has been flooded, the monks there are undaunted and have been moving about the area in boats.

The Government today tabled in the House the Report of the Commission to Inquiry into the Establishment and Maintenance of Unlawful Places of Detention and Torture Chambers in the Batalanda Housing Scheme.
