An islandwide quarantine curfew will be imposed from tomorrow (16) from 10 pm to 4 am every day until further notice, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak, General Shavendra Silva announced. The curfew will not affect the essential service operations, the Commander stressed.
Meanwhile, the Government Information Department announced earlier that weddings will not be allowed either in homes or reception halls from midnight next Tuesday( August 17) until further notice,
The statement said all sorts of public gatherings will also not be allowed from midnight today (15 and restaurants are permitted to cater not more than 50% of their capacity at a time.
Meanwhile, some traders associations from affected areas including Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha announced earlier that they have decided to close shops and markets considering the prevailing pandemic situation in the country.
