Displeased medical professionals will launch a token strike tomorrow against President Wickremesinghe’s decision to increase doctor’s allowances by 35,000 rupees.
“The strike beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow will end at 6a.m. the following day” said Treasurer of the PHI Union Roshan Kumara.
All professional medical associations except doctors will engage in the strike demanding for an increase in their allowances as their contribution to the medical sector plays an equally vital role.
However, there are disputes among health trade unions weather they should take part in the token strike.
This is the second strike in two weeks over the same issue.
Mr. Kumara said that they have not recieved a response from the government over their demand despite their initial protest.
