The Department of Meteorology said that heavy rains would occur over most parts of the country.
Showers or thundershowers will trigger in Uva and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts. Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm tend to fall out at certain areas in Uva province and in Ampara districts.
Showers or thundershowers are expected for at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Western, Central and North-western provinces plus, in Galle and Matara districts during the day or night. Word is sent to the general public to take adequate measures lessen damages caused by temporarily confined blustery winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
The Meteorology Department further asserted showers could come to pass at times in the sea areas off the coast widening from Galle to Trincomalee through Matara, Hambantota, Pottuvil and Batticaloa.
Wind speed may shoot up to 40-50 KMPH intermittently over the seas areas around the island.
Sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Colombo through Pottuvil, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Kankesanturai, Mannar and Puttalam will be rough at times. The sea areas around the island will remain slightly moderate.
