Inter provincial travel restrictions have been extended till 4.00 a.m. on October 31 (Sunday), Army Commander and Head of National Operations Centre for the Prevention of the Spread of COVID-19 General Shavendra Silva said.
General Silva said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa ordered the extending of present restrictions in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
Despite travel restrictions still in place, tourist hotspots in the Central hills to the Southern and Eastern coasts are reportedly attracting local tourists arriving from populated districts.
Police said 618 persons who have attempted to enter/leave Western province have been turned away on Tuesday.
