Reacting to the imposition of an island-wide curfew, the National People's Power (NPP) said that it is confident that the Election Commission and its officials will ensure that the counting of votes and issuing of results of the 2024 presidential election will be done accurately and clearly.
Issuing a statement, the party further said it expects the police and security forces will act to ensure the security of counting centres.
The NPP added that it believes that the curfew was imposed solely with the aim of maintaining public order when issuing election results. It urged the security forces to take necessary measures to ensure peace in the country during the post-election period. It further appealed to the public to provide their utmost support towards maintaining peace in the country during this period.
