Jaffna MC budget defeated for third time
The annual budget submitted at Jaffna Municipal Council was defeated for the third time today weeks ahead the council to be expired next month.
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) dominated council saw breaking away groups supporting different factions that resulted in sixteen votes in favour of the budget while 22 were casted against it.
The current Mayor M. Arnold was appointed last month as Mayor after previous budget, submitted by former Mayor V. Manivannan was defeated. The two time Mayor submitted the budget to council proceedings today but four members walked out of the proceedings and did not take part in the vote.
