Keen interest among public sector employees to vote

Postal voting took place in selected government establishments today, with public sector employees showing keen interest in voting.

Deputy  Inspector General (DIG) Crimes as well as the police media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa told Timesonline that the postal voting for the 2024 presidential election took place without any major violence or violation incidents.  

Today’s voting took place in Election offices, District Secretary offices and Police.

According to the Election Commission 712,319 state sector employees eligible to cast their votes. A total 1,500 centres have been arranged for voting.

Postal voting at Monaragala commenced peacefully, said the Assistant Election Commissioner, Attorney at law Nagalingam Regan, said.

Accordingly 24 poling centers including police stations within the district, police special task force camps, District secretariat offices and election offices.

Over 2,240 postal voters out of 2,362 eligible postal voters had casted their vote without major incident.

 

Postal voting took place from  8.00 am to 4.00 pm.The voting took place today District secretary offices, election offices, and police stations across the country.

Voting will also take place on Thursday and Friday.

Two additional days too have been arranged for those who are unable to vote this week. September 11 and 12 will be the additional days.
