Most Maldivians are unhappy over the safe haven given to fleeing Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, residents from Male, the capital of the Maldives said.
Rajapaksa, his wife and two bodyguards.fled to the Maldives early this morning in an airforce plane.
"Many Maldivians are angry and opposed to their government's move to provide safety to the Sri Lanka President. At this time we should stand by our brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka who forced the President to flee," said one resident by telephone from Male adding that the main discussion in cafes and restaurants today is anger over the move to provide a safe haven for the Sri Lankan president.
