National Fuel Pass system to be implemented islandwide from tomorrow

News

National Fuel Pass system will be implemented islandwide from tomorrow onwards (July 26) in multiple fuel stations of both state-owned CEYPETCO  and Lanka LIOC outlets and it will be effective on the basis of the last digit of the number plate until August 1, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said.

Stations which are not equipped or have technical difficulties will follow the last digit and fuel quota allocation until the technical issues are rectified.  Sixty per cent of the locations have already been equipped and tested and will be given a priority in fuel distribution, Minister Wijesekra said in a series of tweets published on his official Twitter handle explaining the current fuel distribution status.

Accordingly, all fuel station owners of CEYPETCO and LIOC have been requested to adopt the system immediately and  distribution will be strictly enforced to fuel stations with the QR facilities by  August 1.” We request the public to register with National Fuel Pass and Support the initiative,”

Meanwhile, Minister also said that options will be given to users to register multiple vehicles with their business registration by the end of the week and to government institutes to register. Divisional secretaries will be given access to the platform to register generators, gardening equipment and other equipment.

Police and Divisional secretaries will be given access to register three-wheelers, allocating each three-wheeler to one specific fuel station. Ministry of Transport will be given access to register Busses allocating them to depots or fuel stations accordingly.

Other services such as Health, Agriculture, Fisheries, Tourism, Industries and service-providing sectors will be given access to the system to register their requirements & allocation of vehicles at fuel stations, Minister said.

“From August 1 onwards, only the QR system quota will be in place and the last digit of the number plate system and other allocations will be invalid. National Youth Corp and National Youth Council members and volunteers to assist the program at fuel stations for the next 10 days,” Minister said.
