Pastor Jerome Fernando, wanted in connection over a controversial statement on religions is to be arrested on his return to the country, Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa today.
Police had obtained a travel ban on the Pastor to prevent him leaving the country.
However, he had left the country on a prescheduled official matter related to his Ministry and is expected to return to the island on Sunday, according to a post via Instagram.
Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Colombo also confirmed that Pastor Jerome is neither a Catholic priest nor is connected to the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka.
Earlier today, a post was made by Pastor Jerome via his Instagram page stating "Prophet Jerome to Address the Nation, Await the Broadcast".
Later that post was changed to "Await a special broadcast from Prophet Jerome"
