Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a person in Meegoda on December 14.
Police Media Unit said the Meegoda Police and the Western Province Crime Investigation Division commenced investigations into the incident where a person traveling in a car was shot and killed in the Nagahawatta area in Meegoda.
Officers from the Western Province Crime Investigation Division arrested the alleged gunman and an accomplice on December 19. Three other suspects who allegedly aided and abetted the crime were arrested on December 22.
Based on information provided by the arrested suspects, police were able to arrest two further suspects who aided and abetted the crime from Meegoda last evening (23). This brings the total number of arrests linked to the murder to seven.
The suspects are area residents aged 26 and 33 years. Acting on information provided by one of the arrested suspects, police also recovered a 9mm pistol and 10 rounds of live ammunition hidden next to a paddy field along Kurunduwatta Road, Meegoda. Further investigations are ongoing.
