Police seize smuggled turmeric and cigarettes worth Rs. 30 million

More than 12, 000 kilograms of turmeric and 280, 000 cigarettes that had been smuggled into the country were taken into custody by police while being unloaded from a container at a warehouse in Mahabage this morning.

Three suspects were also taken into custody along with the seized contraband.

The value of the seized turmeric and cigarettes is estimated to be over Rs. 30 million. They smuggled into the country in a container after being declared as rubber.
