Two Ukrainians serving in a merchant ship who died on international waters are to be brought inland today through the Galle Port for the postmortem, Police said today.
The Galle Port Police had received a complaint that two Ukrainians had died aboard the merchant ship they served on, which was travelling from Egypt to India, yesterday (February 1) on international waters.
The ship is currently anchored close to the Galle Port and the Police have taken steps to inform the Galle Magistrate of the incident and bring the bodies inland.
The ages of the two sailors were 41 and 53 years.
The post-mortem examination is to be conducted at the Karapitiya Hospital, while the Galle Port Police are conducting further investigations.
