President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with Elon Musk to discuss the implementation of Starlink in Sri Lanka and committed to fast-tracking the application process to connect SL with the global Starlink network in a high-profile meeting held today in Bali, Indonesia, President Media Division (PMD) said.
During the 10th World Water Forum High-Level Meeting in Indonesia, they discussed the Global Blended Finance Alliance, Sri Lanka's Tropical Belt Initiative, Blue Economy, seaweed industry and the need for cooperation among Global South nations and explored research collaboration on mangrove planting and establishment of a bilateral task force to coordinate these efforts and Sri Lanka's role as the chair of IORA, according to the PMD.
President Wickremesinghe left for Indonesia yesterday following an invitation from Indonesian President Joko Widodo, underscoring Sri Lanka’s commitment to international cooperation on water-related challenges.
Scheduled to deliver a keynote address tomorrow, President Wickremesinghe will articulate Sri Lanka’s perspective on achieving equitable access to water resources for all.
During the forum, President Wickremesinghe is expected to engage in bilateral discussions, including a meeting with President Widodo, to explore avenues for collaborative action in water resource management. His delegation, comprising senior officials from the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflects Sri Lanka’s comprehensive approach to addressing global water issues.
