Five state ministers including Geeta Kumarasinghe have been removed from their posts with immediate effect by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The others who were removed from their posts are State Minister of Irrigation and Water Supply Shasheedra Rajapaksa, State Minister of Urban Development and Housing Amith Thenuka Vidanagamage, State Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Prasanna Ranaweera and State Minister of Power and Energy D.V.Chanaka.
The President removed the state ministers in term of Article 47 (3) (a) of the Constitution.
