In honor of the 77th National Independence Day, 285 prisoners will be released, Prison Spokesman Gamini Dissanayake told Times Online.
Among them the released will be 6 women and 278 men.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
