The Supreme Court is to take up the petition filed by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) member Mujibar Rahaman with regard to the upcoming local government election on February 23.
The petitioner filed the petition requesting to issue an order to the Election Commission to take the necessary steps to conduct the local government polls without any hindrance.
Former Member of Parliament Mr. Mujibur Rahman is contesting for the Colombo Municipal Council representing SJB.
This petition was called yesterday (16) before the three-judge bench consisting of Judges Priyantha Jayawardene, Murdu Fernando and Achala Vengappuli.
