The body of the Sri Lankan woman found under debris of a collapsed apartment in earthquake-hit Turkiye was laid to rest in the same area where she resided for over three decades.
“Burial of the human remains of the deceased took place in Antakya, Hatay province, in line with regulations imposed by the health authorities. The identity of the deceased Sri Lankan is withheld at the request of the family,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Earlier the Sri Lanka Embassy in Ankara said the victim hailing from Galagedara had been in Türkiye for thirty years and was married to a Turkish national. Her body was identified by her daughter.
