The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspected believed to be an accomplice of a underworld gang leader, while conducting a raid at Wellampitiya yesterday (November 7).
The 50 year old accomplice was arrested for possession of 60 grams and 40 milligrams of the Drug ‘Ice’ worth around Rs. 150,250. The police added that they arrested the suspect when they conducted a raid at Pansalhena area in Wellampitiya.
The police said that they believe that the arrested suspect had a close relationship with an underworld gang leader Welle Suranga.
The STF had handed over the suspect to Wellampitiya Police following the arrest.
The raid was conducted by Intelligence Division officers including R. M. A. P. B. Rajanayake, under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sagara Kulasekara.
