Heat index, the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to ‘caution’ level in Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Hambantota, the Meteorology Department said.
Issuing a heat index advisory, the Department said public in the above area may feel fatigued when exposed to outdoor activities and heat cramps are also possible.
Public is requested to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade, especially from 11 am till 3 pm.
“Check up on the elderly and the sick. Limit strenuous outdoor activities and opt for light weight, light coloured clothing,” the advisory said.
