Three 16-year-old youths have been arrested over the killing of a 34-year-old motorcyclists in Welipenna last night.
Police Media Unit said the victim, a resident of Kurudippita, Walagedara, had been on his way to buy some provisions for his house when he had allegedly become embroiled in an altercation with the suspects.
The suspects had severely assaulted the victim and he died after being admitted to Seenawatta Hospital. The suspects were taken into custody by the Welipenna Police over the murder and further investigations are ongoing.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
