The Criminal Investigation Division of the Wattala Police has succeeded in arresting three persons, including the main suspect, involved in multiple robberies including gold jewellery, laptops, mobile phones and cash by breaking into houses in Wattala, Minuwangoda, Kiribathgoda areas.
According to information that drugs were being transported, the main suspect was arrested with 7200 mg of heroin near Wattala Hekitta intersection on Saturday 04
During further questioning from the main suspect, gold ornaments worth about three lakh rupees and cash of Rs.20,000 were stolen from a house in Minuwangoda area, Rs 250,000 iPhone mobile phone was stolen from a house in Kiribathgoda area, . A iPhone mobile phone worth about five lakh rupees and a watch worth one lakh rupees were stolen from another house in Kiribathgoda area.
Police investigations revealed that two ordinary telephones worth about fifty five thousand rupees were stolen by breaking into a Wattala house and selling them thirty thousand rupees. has.
The main suspect is a resident of Kiribathgoda with previous convictions and has been identified as a drug trafficker. The other suspects have been identified as two Colombo businessmen who were keeping the stolen mobile phones for sale.
The concerned suspects will be presented to the Wattala Magistrate's Court on 05 today and the further investigations will be handed over to the Kiribathgoda Police.
