Two MPs who met with separate road accidents today (13) escaped unhurt.
Leader of the All Ceylon People's Congress and MP for the Wanni District, MP Rishad Bathiudeen was involved in a vehicle accident yesterday afternoon (13) at Karuwalagaswewa.
Although none of the passengers were injured, the Karuwalagaswewa Police said that the vehicle was severely damaged.
The Minister’s jeep had collided with a motorcyclist while traveling from Puttalam to Vavuniya. The motorcyclist had not sustained major injuries, but was admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital.
The police said that the driver of the vehicle had lost control, causing the vehicle to fall in a ditch.
Meanwhile, the vehicle MP Dilan Perera was travelling in met with an accident near the Gelanigama interchange of the Southern Expressway. Three others involved in the accident sustained injuries.
