Wave-type atmospheric disturbances will enhance wet weather conditions over most of the island today onwards (14), the Department of Meteorology noted.
Occasional rains are possible in Eastern and Uva Provinces besides Mullaitivu, Matale, Pollonnaruwa and Hambantota Districts.
A few showers are due in Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi , Mannar and Anuradhapura Districts. Remaining locations will see showers after 1:00 pm, a Duty Meteorologist of the Met. Department said.
Heavy rainfall over 100mm are predicted for certain places in Eastern, Uva, Western, Sabaragamuwa Provinces in addition to Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara Districts.
Parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern Provinces will have misty mornings.
The public is further urged to take preventives to reduce harm that can be caused by heavy winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
