A 21 year old woman was taken into naval custody for possession of a type of commercial explosive and non-electronic detonators used for illegal fishing activities in Kasimnagar of Kuchchaweli, Trincomalee yesterday, Navy said.
During a Navy search operation carried out in the area, the woman was arrested with 54 water gel sticks and 50 non-electronic detonators that are used for illegal fishing operations.
The suspect was identified as a resident of the Kasimnagar area. The suspect and explosive items were handed over to the Kuchchaweli Police for further legal action.
