Sri Lankan workers remittances rose in April to US$454 million compared to $248.9 million in the same month in 2022, latest Central Bank data shows.
For the 4-month period ending April 2023, remittances were recorded at $1.867 billion, a sharp rise from $1 billion in the same 2022 period.
Tourist arrivals also recorded an increase with 441,177 arrivals in the 4-month period to April 2023 compared to 348,314 in the same period in 2022. Tourism earnings also grew to $696.3 million in January-April 2023 against $591 million in the same 2022 period.
