A 28 year old youth was taken into custody by Special Task Force (STF) personnel yesterday near Uyilankulam, Mannar when he tried to smuggle 3.4Kg of Methamphetamine commonly known as ICE in a private bus.
Based on a tip-off given to STF, the authorities recovered the narcotics consignment from the bus in which the suspect was traveling at the checkpoint. The market value of the drugs is estimated to be over Rs 30 million.
The suspect was handed over to Mannar police for further investigations and legal action. (Joseph Nayan)
