Police and security forces have arrested 1,676 suspects in a 24-hour operation ‘Yukthiya’ to combat narcotics, ending on December 23, the Ministry of Public Security said.
Accordingly, 45 suspects have been investigated for financial assets, 112 have been sent for rehabilitation, and 119 have been detained.
The special island-wide operations resulted in the impounded of various drugs including 692g of heroin, 393g of methamphetamine (ice), 42.1kg of cannabis, 20,615 narcotic pills, 235,680 cannabis plants, 534g of hash, and 11kg of Mawa.
Since December 17, special raids under the ‘Yukthiya’ operation have resulted in over 11,500 arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics.
Besides, the Police's Illegal Assets and Properties Investigation Division has seized millions of rupees from infamous criminals and drug traffickers.
