ACJU urges Ramazan festival prayers to be held at mosques only

News

The All Ceylon Jamiathul Ulama (ACJU) has urged that Ramazan festival prayers must be confined to mosques only instead of celebrating it in the open this year.

Issuing a special statement, the Islamic cleric body advised devotees to refrain from travelling to mosques by vehicles on the day of the festival. "Those who require vehicles must  share it with others while travelling to mosques for festival prayers," the statement read.

The ACJU also insisted that the administration of each mosque must seek security for mosques on the day of the festival by contacting the police stations in their respective areas.

While emphasising that this year's festival celebrations must be limited to religious activities, the ACJU called on the Muslims to assist the Easter Sunday attack victims instead of spending on festivities.

The statement also said that it was advisable for men to purchase the requirements for their households wherever possible as opposed to women.
