The Government instead of reducing fuel prices is due to use benefits gained from the reduction of world oil prices for expenses incurred to treat coronavirus patients.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that he proposes to submit a cabinet paper in this regard.
Mr Amaraweera pointed out that though fuel prices in the past have been reduced the actual benefit has not gone to all persons and therefore this time they have decided to pass the benefit to the Treasury so that a bigger majority benefits.
