Cabinet approves prepaid cards for buses and trains

The Cabinet yesterday approved the introduction of a prepaid card system that could be used in buses and trains. The plan is to modernize the public transport service and introducing an electronic payment system and using a prepaid card is part of these efforts.

Accordingly, the proposal forwarded by the Minister of Civil Aviation and Transport, Nimal Siripala de Silva, to facilitate the implementation of  Standard Public Card Framework Project, was approved by Cabinet.
