The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) detected 42 kilograms of heroin based on information provided by an inmate in custody, a senior officer said today.
He said that the inmate was connected with the heroin smuggling rackets of notorious underworld gang leader Angoda Lokka who was reportedly poisoned while in India.
Along with the drugs, three T56 weapons, 170 rounds of ammunition and a nine mm pistol was also recovered.
