The clauses pertaining to the prevention of terrorism will be brought under the Emergency Regulations with effect from midnight today (Apr 22).
A gazette notification will be issued to this effect in order to enhance powers of the police and the tri-forces.
The decision to bring the relevant clauses under the Emergency Regulations was made during a discussion between President Maithripala Sirisena and the members of the National Security Council this afternoon.
