Nearly 57,000 families have been affected due to the prevailing drought conditions in the country, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Disaster Management via the DMC has allocated Rs 6.65 million to provide relief for the residents of seven districts who have been affected due to this weather condition.
The Jaffna, Vavuniya, Matara, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle and Puttalam districts will receive the said amount since they are among the worst affected areas, the DMC noted.
Meanwhile, 300 water bowsers and 4471 water tanks have been distributed across 13 districts which are faced with the drought, the DMC said.
