Defence Counsel appearing on behalf of Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa today filed a bail application at the Fort Magistrate's Court. Mr. Weerawansa is accused of misusing Government vehicles and causing losses amounting to millions of rupees to the state.
The counsel submitted the bail application to court requesting it to consider granting bail to Mr. Weerawansa under exceptional circumstances, as his daughter is currently being treated in hospital.
The Fort Magistrate fixed April 3 to deliver a decision on the bail application.
