Members of the country's Hindu community celebrate Deepavali Festival today. Known as the 'Festival of Lights' it signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The festival is also being celebrated in the North on a grand scale.
Hindu devotees also prayed for rains to fall so that the coming Maha Season would yield a bountiful harvest.
